Intake Manifold

My manifold intake is cracked, and need to replace it. But I was thinking instead of just replacing it with a 97 manifold, I could get a 99+ manifold intake and then have the extra modifications done to put on imported heads. Has anyone had this done before? What additional parts are needed, none of the websites i've found has said much about it. Also any idea on the price range? Thanks!

So you want to put and PI (99-2004) intake on non PI heads (96-98) correct! Well it can be done! Casper98 has done a write up on it and I will link it. Instead of doing the normal manifold why dont you use TrickFlows new track heat 2V manifold. I mean it will cost more sure, but I think it would be worth it while you were doing it!

its really not worth it to go buy a 700-800 dollar intake manifold and gain little to none on a n/a motor. Just stick to the pi intake. cheap money

hey, i found a performance intake manifold online for just over 300 bucks. I'm including a link to the page and was wondering if this would be a better intake for my 96 and 98 gt's. would it be better to use a p i intake or this one?

any other suggestions for an intake manifold would be greatly appreciated

Okay that is a PI Intake! But personally I would still go with a different one than the PI! But then again casper has a good point if you dont want to spend a big chunk of change!

The intake manifold is not the killer on a mod motor, every intake(aftermarket) has its flaws. If you plan to make 500+rwhp then a aftermarket intake may be something to look into, for the money a P.I intake is hard to beat.

I personally dont like the looks of a plastic piece so I would buy an aluminum no matter what! Unless I get a killer deal or I change the direction of my car!

im not looking to make 500 rwhp, im looking to put like 350 to the wheels. i just wanted to make sure that i'd be able to do it with this intake. How much power can i expect to gain from the intake alone and will it stand p to a blower?

Stand up to a blower meaning work with a blower then yes, but compete with one then no! Also it might give you 15-20 HP and with some PI cams you cans see around 40-45 HP and with PI heads maybe 55-60! but the last numbers are optimistic!

so i should be able to take the cam out the same time im doing the intake manifold, because it's an overhead cam, so it's in the top half of the motor.

Well there are two cams one per head, so you will have to take off your timing cover and chain and lot of stuff to swap cams as well! Unless your like casper and are really good with these motors!

i'm pretty much looking for bolt on power. I really don' want to have to pull the motor out of the car unless im putting a blower on her. Which will hopefully be acurring next spring. i need to keep the noise level of the car down so exhaust is out. I'm looking for the maximum amount of bolt on power. Any ideas would be helpful.
