Severly stiff clutch, completely stumped.

My buddy has a 98 cobra 5 speed. It is nearly impossible to get into gear so we suspected the pressure plate had bit the dust as per some of our ford mechanics we know. Long story short. We originally believe the clutch cable snapped but it didn't. The pedal dropped to the floor as if it did. Once it came back up it was completely stiff.

We ended up putting a new cable and quadrant on. Put in a new spec stage 1 clutch kit in. Went to press the clutch pedal in a couple times and where the quadrant mounts to the pedal assembly breaks. So we put in another pedal assembly and still the same issue. Would it be a TOB/Retainer issue?

only other thing would be tear it down and inspect the pressure plate.

thats about what we got it down to. he put grease on the fork where it rides on that ball. I was figuring that or the retainer it rides on was screwed up. Should we get a ford tob just to be sure if when we drop the tranny to reinspect everything
