Sleeping Baby...

Hey guys, my buddy and me pretty much run the same cars, his is a 98 with 68k 5 spd and mine is a 96 with 65k 5 spd. I went down the road of loud badassness a few years ago with no cats and flowmasters with a set of bbk headers on my 95 5.0. I got pulled over, a lot. Don't get me wrong, a car needs a good rumble, but right now I can pretty much recite to you the judges names at my local courthouse. I can't afford to risk getting pulled over for noise violations, and a "illegally" modified vehicle. My buddy on the otherhand could care less. Where going to the local mustang pro shop today and he's putting a full exhaust on his car. I can't do that, cause guesss what, I'll be the one getting pulled over not him, thats my luck. I've already decided to put an intake manifold from a 99+ on my car as my first mod, but what else can i do to the car to give it more power, but no noise. I want to drop about 2-3 grand on the motor without ripping it out and messing with the internals. My goal is to put around 240 rwhp before i throw a blower on next spring. I want a sleeper, pure and simple, no exhaust, no flashy lights, the furthest im willing to go is a saleen spoiler just to look a little dfferent. You guys have been like my online bible since i Joined last month, so my future lies in ur hands guys

Okay you can put some PI cams in there as well and it will give you more power, but it will raise the compresssion as well not so good for a blower! So If I were you I would get some NPI aftermarket stage 1 or 2 cams! If you go with stage 2 then you have to upgrade your vavle springs in your heads as well! And that will make it sound just a little louder and different! But beware without alowing the exhaust to flow freely you will not get as much hp!

Im not sure who told you that but you might not want to listen to them anymore. PI cams will NOT raise compression, its the PI heads that do that due to the difference in pistons.

Just mod youre car normally and dont do exhaust. Sounds like you answered youre own question. Keep youre stock exhaust and do heads and cams. You cant get serious power out of a NPI mustang without going heads and cams. A 4.6 isnt really gonna be a monster without some sort of F.I.

like i said, im not looking to turn the car into a monster, i just want a solid 350 wrhp. With the intake, throttle body, chip, gears, and a blower, im confident in getting that number.

the aluminum crossover version is a "factory replacement".

But NO that is NOT a PI intake. You can tell by looking at the aluminum cross over, see it has 2 threaded bosses for the 2 coolant temp sensors. The PI doesnt have that .

Im 100% on this but someone back me up on this?

the pi intake will fit the NPI heads

use a PI intake gasket also its easier than using the NPI intake gasket from what I have seen.

ok, so the more i think about it the more i realize that I'm better off doing the complete swap at the same time. now does the 96 block have the same plenum as the 99 and up or is it different? Does anyone know where i can get a set of heads, cams, and intake manifold for the swap?

Ebay for the swap unless you want to go aftermarket upgrade while you are in there and for that I would recommend VT or Livernois for heads and Cams and then a different intake! And the plenum is the exact same!
