1997 Ford Mustang GT Need Help Troubleshooting codes!!

when i go out to start my car it will fire up than die, if i keep my foot on the gas pedal until it warms up its fine after that, i went to autozone today had the guy scan for codes and this is what popped up.
" Troubleshooting P1507"
Idle air control (IAC) underspeed error explanation
ECM has detected an engine speed less than desired probably cause
Engine vacuum leak
Failed IAC valve
Open or Shorted electrical Condition
Air Inlet Plugged

now a guy at a garage plugged the outlet on the IAC, the vac lines are hooked up, if any one can help me out with this let me know asap. i also started to smell a burning plastic smell yesterday while on the highway with the heat on. i shut the heat off and it went away, maybe heatercores going?

It's your IAC valve. Install a new one.

Or if you wanted a free POSSIBLE fix take off the old IAC, clean it with throttle body cleaner or somethin, then put it back on and see if it works. That fixed mine it was just stuck or gummed up or something, just an idea you could try and POSSIBLY save yourself some money

they run about $50 for a new one at autozone but i would try cleaning it out first. Once you remove it you will see where to spray it.

Yea it happened to me. I took it to a guy i know and he tapped it with a hammer to make the spring work again. It only worked for a while so you are probably better just getting a new one.

Yea the hose that goes from the valve to the intake needs to be one there. Mine was just some 3/8's heater hose that i used.

Well it was either 3/8s or 3/4s i cant remember

But yea thats all mine is.

The IAC valve is useless without that. Instead of buying a new valve hook up that hose to the intake and the car will run fine

The idle air control is adjusting itself still.
Drive it for a day or so then let me know how its running.

Try disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes. Then re connect it. Start it up and let it idle for a minute or 2. Then go drive it around.
