auto to manual
I want to go from automatic to a manual. What parts do I need as well as what are the best parts (upgrades rather) and what transmissions are better than others? Which tranny would be ideal? I have a 98 GT.
Thanks for the help. |

It's been said before that yes the swap is possible, but with the amount of our cars that exist, you might be better off seling your auto, and buying a stick.

I have too much in the car to sell it. Eventually I'll get another, and I'll be able to shop around and choose what I want but eight now I want this one, and for it to be more personal lol.

im not into drag racing.
i have new jersey motorsports park 15 miles from my house. and i can sign up for a instruction course, and after that, go around WHENEVER i want. i really want a standard to do that, because with a auto, it wont be as fun. heres a link to an overview of the tracks. :] NJMP Track Information |

its not a wise thing to manually down shift these cars. if i remember right, when not at WOT, line pressure drops.

You mean with a hammer, or an auto converted to a manual?

Agreed.... A mustang is far more fun manual... I wish you all the best with your build... Start a thread and keep us posted with your progress

a couple of hours & this kit, TransGo Performance AODE-HD2 - TransGo Performance Shift Kits - Overview - SummitRacing.com fixes both problems. then you can hold the trans in any gear, up or down.
