Ping on accel
I bought a 96 5 speed GT 107K miles and unmolested from a lady that baby'd the shit out of it all of it's life. Has all of the mait. records for everything! I have put about 4000 miles on the car and hasn't used a drop of oil and runs like a friggin sewing machine.
So I notice when I am at 4000 rpm and above is pings like mad all the way up to redline. (reg or 92 oct fuel) I have installed a new fuel pump and filter (had a hard start, long crank), added a K&N filter, removed the air box silencer and cut open the factory air box (what an improvement that made!). Did a 70 psi injector clean and installed flowmaster 3 chamber exhaust. Been a good 10 years since I have been a drivability tech for a Ford store but I do still have my trusty NGS. I am thinking it has to be a spark plug problem even though it has fac. recomended plugs (.52 gap) in it and new Ford dealer installed Motorcraft wires. My question is this, what plugs are you guys putting in these 4.6's these days? I usually only use what ever is recomended for a certain engine, especially on a Ford cause they are so damn picky on plugs. |

So what's up everyone here has a "big fix" for the guy with a check engine light, no codes and a description of his issue but a mid to high RPM ping can't be answered. I check the plugs in the car last night and they are AGSF-32FF's they were gapped at 0.56-.058. I regapped them to 0.52 to see if that may make a difference.
I still would like to know what kinda plugs you guys run in you 4.6's
