Possible defect in 4 Way Flasher Switch

Attention 1994 to 1998 Mustang Owners
Possible defect in 4 Way Flasher Switch

I noticed that my brake lights were not working but the hi mount (in trunk lid) was working. I put on my 4 way flashers and the front lights were flashing but not the rear ones. Although the green arrows were flashing on the dash. I wiggled the 4 way flasher and the lights started working properly. A few days later the brake lights were not working again so I wiggled the 4 way switch and they started working again I was driving down the street one day and noticed a 1994-98 Mustang stopping ahead of me. Only his hi mount light came on and not his tail lights. The same that happend to me. What are the odds. I would ask all Mustang owners check there brake lights and then operate the 4 way flasher to see if something strange happens. Such as intermittant opperation, only one green arrow coming on for a second. One turn signal flashing fast, or delay in flashers working . If anyone experience these problems please let me know. This could be a situation were a safety recall is needed.

Good luck with the recall, Just fix the loose connection, Ford has had that problem since day one. You just have loose terminals.

your connections are just dirty.....hit the flasher button on the steering column and wiggle it around and keep pressing it, or blow some air in there. Oh and your defenatly not going to get a recall on this. Not to shoot you down but Ford, barely did the Intake Manifold. GL

He is right, it's like an act of congress to get a recall these days especially for cars that old

Sorry, I may have jumped the gun on the recall bit. Believe me I am no crusader and life is to short for that kind of stuff. I just thought it weird that someone else had the same problem as I did. Lots of people could be driving around without brake lights and not even know it. I was only trying to make people aware thats all. I believe what 68DLXcoupe said about dirty connection because the car sat for 1 1/2 years while I was overseas. It is parked more then I use it. It has only 37,000 miles on it. Also the power mirrors hardly worked, but I kept working them and now they are normal again. I guess if you don't use these things enough, they will act up like the 4 way flasher. So I will blow out the contacts and all should be good. Oh and Casper98GT I do not work for the government, just a "normal" guy who enjoys his mustang.
Thanks guys.
