Tension Pulley

How hard is it to install a new tension pulley? Mine has started to make noise and would like to get it fixed and also like to know if I can WD40 it and see if that goes away! Thanks!

on my 98 its super simple....i have to pull a coil a stopper plate then the tensioner...i thinks its a combined total of 6 nuts and bolts you have to undo. Even if the wd-40 stops the noise it will come back....for about 50 bucks for the tensioner and about 15 minutes start to finish you can fix it right.

I have had to replace the one on my 98 twice already, and the Steeda crank pulley twice also.

Some pulley info.

This may help, but I'm sure that you will have no problem with this project.I changed the pulley on the belt tensioner. It took about and hour with a no rush attitude and the part cost around $14.00 at murrys, made by gatorback. My understanding from Ford service that the torque is 25 ft. lbs for the bracket and pulley. The tools I used was a 13 mm open end wrench for the coil bracket, 10 mm for the smaller tensioner bolts and a 5/8 inch deep socket for the top middle bolt. The pulley needed a 15 mm . Walt.
