MAC or Flowmaster

I'm trying to decide on whether or not i want a flowmaster or mac cat-back exhuast. I know everyone's opinion is different but I just wanted to hear what a few people had to say before i went out and bought one. I've had flowmaster on 2 of my cars and never had mac, but i here that mac adds the most power and sounds the loudest. I can't go with an off-road pipe do to the fact that everytime i do i get bitched at by the neighbors, and my license has more points the a lightbright.

On my 97 GT-Auto I used to have Mac long tubes with Mac off-road
H-pipe with Flowmaster 40's. They had a great loud sound but I got tired of the drone on my stock 3.08's. So I switched to a Mac H-pipe w/cats and a Mac Flowpath 3.5" S/S tips and it's very different. I honestly hands down like it better. I can actually listen to music and talk which i really couldn't do with the flows. It's really not that loud at idle or cruising but when u mash the gash it's a mean sound.

check out mustangexhaust.com or youtube for clips

Personally I like H-pipes with Flows, but everybody has flows so I would try the MACs and be different!

my buddies got a mac pro chanber h pipe with mac cat back and i think for the amount of money he spent on it he got robbed. he drpped almost 800 bux on them and it's no where near as loud as it should be. with my old cars u could hear me coming from down the block, now i gotta wait till he turns the corner by are parking lot entrance for me to hear him unless he's got the thing floored. flows sound deeper to me but macs sound louder.

this may sound like a stupid question, but a supercharger sends more air through the entire motor, so not only will it whistle, it's going to change the sound of the exhaust, because of more air coming through, right?

It might make it sound a little different, but not too much, because the charged air is now being used for better combustion, which in turn make more come out, but it shouldnt change it that much!

I got Magnaflow Magnapacks on my 4 vavle Cobra with an o/r x-pipe and ever since I'vre gotten it, there's been nothing but compliments from my friends. They love the sound of it.
And personally, I wanted something a little different than all of the other Mustangs. I know flowmasters do sound nice, but everyone has them.

Well on my 98 i have had....

Flowmaster American Thunder

Dynamax catback system

SLP LM 1 catback

SLP Powerflow Catback system

Mac catback system

All of this on a UPR Catless X-pipe.

I can honestly say X-pipe are VERY RASPY. H-pipes are deeper sound. I dont care if you have a X-pipe and say its real deep and blah blah. H-pipe will be deeper everytime.

The flows were deep and loud. Had that signature flow sound. The Macs sound deep and mean even with my x-pipe. But they do get slightly raspy at about 2500-3500rpms. The flows were Not raspy at all. Just deep but not real loud. If i were cruising you might not beable to tell i had exhaust.

The SLP Lm1 or SLP lm2 are junk with a offroad pipe. yuck.

the SLP powerflow was my FAVORITE catback of all time. But its pricey.

I have factory manifolds, UPR Offroad X pipe and Mac Catback. The Mac is the best made in my opinion. It tucks up in youre floor so it doesnt catch on anything and the flanges are studded so no nuts and bolts. black coated and looks cool too. The tips are kinda stupid the way they mount. but it works.
