You probably want to keep your return style anyways. Its much better than the later returnless style. And Fuel rails are essentially tubes with holes in them for the injectors. There are all kinds of different ones around that will work for you.

Wrong

Termis go for like 16-18k.

Just buy one and call it a day lol. Instead of trying to build one from the ground up for more

I've crunched the numbers, and it's possible to do pretty well. But it's based on a lot of "if"s, you'll need a fairly cheap wreck in good shape, a cheap donor car to put it in, and good returns on the parts you sell. It's very easy to end up spending more than a termi, especially in an SN-95.

At the same time I do support the notion of building your own, though I might be a bit biased...

It all comes down to execution. It can go well or poorly, depends on the builder.

You can just build your gt engine and go faster for cheaper, as far as switching the interior, the only real difference will be the seats, and cobra seats are a b**** to keep clean. and your gonna spend 24k on a 96 mustang gt .... your re-sale will still be like 5k ... its still a 96 gt. Just buy a cobra and call it a day, or build your gt

well I'm a neat freak. no cobble jobs here. to me the extra money is worth a job well done.

and to break this down a bit more for you, my last car was a Sonic Blue 2004 GT. fully loaded with leather and all, 5-speed. I had intake, exhaust, lowered, tinted tail lights and black 17" Bullitts. I could drive the car just about anywhere on any given summer day and see another one that looked close, if not practically identical to mine. people would call me all the time saying they saw me driving down whatever road, when in reality it usually wasn't me, just another car that looked just like mine.

I don't want to be another guy with a Terminator, I want to be the guy with the stupid fast Terminator-swapped SN95.

I didn't start this thread to debate whether or not to do it.. I started it because I plan on doing it and had questions that I needed help with. I'm not trying to come off as an asshole or anything but I am well aware of the fact that it will be a lot of money lost. isn't that essentially what a hobby car is?

+1 to this!
...coming from a guy who's almost as insane though.

And I totally agree, I once saw 3 GT's in a parking lot that looked almost identical, all with the same black bullitt rims, shaved spoiler, blacked out lights, and Mach 1 grille. I'd hate to be just another mustang.

My tip was just that you might also want to look into building yours to termi spec, or very close to, rather than buying a wreck outright. It'll take a little more patience though.

a hobby car is watever you make it, to some people hobby cars are restoring hemi cuda's to sell for 125,000 and make money, to some it is to blow money away.

and as far as being different, doing a termi swap, you will still look like every other sn95 out there. people will still drive by, see a 96 mustang, and call you when it wasnt you. termi's must be very common up there, down here theres like 10 maybe in the city lol

anyways, i believe the 94-95 with the 5.0 would be completely different as far as mounting points go. id go with the 96-98 mustang, 4.6 gt. I wouldnt go for a v6 they will probably have lots of little things different too. If your going with the t-56 from the termi have it rebuilt with viper internals, it strengthens it and the shifts feel better than sex. Motor should bolt up, use the harness and ecu from the termi. you will need a new driveshaft if im not mistaken, i believe the t-56 is a longer trans than the t-45. rear end you should be set. If you lower the car you can still run a 17x10.5 in the rear, with a 315/35/17 tire. as far as dash and interior pieces go, most of it will bolt in, the rear seats of the cobra attach differently than the gt so you will run into some issues getting the rear seats mounted up. id keep the carpet from the gt though, i think there may be some differences in the cobra carpet. you'll like the cobra center console though, it has cupholders. hope your build goes smoothly

Im just making sure your thinking about it all before getting deep into a pretty epic project.
Iv been there and done that with motorswaps in these cars and i know them pretty well top to bottom.

Just making sure you know your about to go balls deep into a pretty thorough swap

awesome idea. Let him do what he wants. I've done plenty of things that weren't the cheapest way to do things or whatever just to be unique.

Just something to think about though. Would it be less work to buy a termi and swap the sn95 body pieces on it?

Psh, at least he's not doing something insane like putting an Integra body on a Cobra. That'd be impossible.

But that might work. Check out the Mus-tegra thread over in the 4v section for ideas.

NO UNIQUENESS ALLOWED

You must stick with a 2v 4.6 with a vortech. Its the only way

I probably see 25-30 different Terminators around Madison every summer. so yeah they're very common. but I'm planning on doing a custom/one-off color on mine that I haven't seen done, but the color is still up in the air as of now.

I actually have the same dream for my cobra. I was going to get a return style conversion kit, but I was also wondering about the heat exchanger/intercooler. The Terminators have them correct? How would that work if i had the complete drive train swap into my '98 with a possible Kenne Bell supercharger upgrade? I know what I like and I can do anything with the right tools, but I just don't get the technical stuff as well I guess.

OK. The I was looking at a complete engine and transmission, but it doesn't have the intercooler with it. So, I'd have to get an intercooler for the Terminator and a coolant reservoir that would bolt in to my '98?

Generally speaking, yes. As well as all the other related components, such as the coolant pump, corresponding wiring, hoses, fittings, pipes, brackets, etc... There's lots of little stuff, but it's a fairly simple system.
