Thanks Noppe.

I noticed that the otc tool was a pain, I used a 3/8 breaker bar and had little troubles but still cussed. I have plans to build a engine in the somewhat near future and will do a camshaft degree write-up (HOW TO) for a sticky if you would like. If I had the patience I would do a writeup on the whole assembly but I'm not sure I'll have the mental capacity to do both ....LOL

I first have to make the choice of a tube chassis or engine build before I do anything !?!?!?!?!?
boomer, anything you wanna do as a write up is cool with me. Thats less questions we have to answer later. And degree'ing cams is something not alot of people know about in the first place less then actually knowing how to. I have seen 2 write ups on degree'ng and would like to see you do one. I would, but im done with my cams. And i think the breaker bar would be a good choice because you have less head to worry about. I used a wratchet from snapon real long one. And sometimes i found the head got in the way so i used a verysmall extension.

ujst - bleeding them down was something i actually tried out to see what if anyting it would do for me. I had to do it in the pass side rear one because its barried under the cam girdle. I put it in a vise and slowly bled it off...but it comes back up to normal height, so it really didnt do much. except now i could push it down very slightly to get that extra hair to get my rocker on.

120 for the cams, or 120 for the cams and the swap ?

You really need the intake to feel the full potential because it flows SO much more air.

Does anyone know where i can get a set of PI cams? Im doing the intake manifold swap and i figured i might as well put the cams in. I've been looking on the internet for 2 days now and all i can come up with are fully assembled heads.

Yeah stage ones are the basic entry level cams from comp! Anyway if you step up to a more agressive cam like a stage 2 or 3 you have to get stiffer valve springs! I would suggest if you are going to be doing cams that you should go ahead and do the stage 2s if you have the cash, because they will show much greater results!

It says that in order to uses the comp cams on a npi motor u need to put in new valve springs. Did u have to do this casper?

for his stage 1s he did not! I dont know of one stage 1 cam that requires new springs! The stage ones are just similar specs as the stockers and that is why the change isnt required!

Actually i went with some PI's i had laying around. I had them and another pair i installed in my buddys car. And the Stage 1's i sold. They were comp stage 1's for PI motor. and wouldnt work in my car.

Its a good idea to run new springs in a npi vehicle to avoid coil bind because these cars dont like high lift. OUr Npi vehicles are pushing the 60-100k mile range so new springs wouldnt be a bad idea anyways.

But yes every stage 2 you need new springs.

I know you can run 262ah (P.I) cam on a npi with a offset retainer >(crower cams). However this would be the biggest cam I would recommend of the AH comp series, on a higher reving engine a little valve float would mean time for new seals. I have found a way to run a .600" lift cam on a NPI head but it requires machining and the use of a different valve seal.

Amazing write up. One of the best I've seen for cam installs. Wish I had seen it before I paid someone to put mine in. BTW I still have my PI cams in any of you non-pi guys are interested.
