Goin to a U-pull yard today, i need some tips for looking for GOOD parts..

1st queston-i have the setup in the pics below, its all PI..I also have a 1997 4.6 thats in my cougar.I plan on putting thsese heads and cams in when i get the help but rite now im gathering parts. It seems ive gotten a bunch of missinformation so thats a big reason im here. What else will i need for the swap? i Already have the PI manifold swap on my car so i have all that stuff.Do i need the timing chain cover and vavle cover? Mine is a 97'....

2nd queston- i have read in a few places that the 5.4 trottlebody is larger than the 4.6, if this is true what year and moddel 5.4 should i look for, i have a 1997 4.6 with the stock pleunum and Tbody and while im at the Upull id like to upgrade one or the other..

1st. You dont need a new timing cover or valve covers unless you have windsor heads. Count your valve cover bolt holes in your heads and make sure its 11. If its 13 then you need different valve covers. also if its 13 then you will need timing cover i think (dont quote me)

2nd. as far as i know the 5.4 plenum faces the other way than the 4.6 so dont think it will work. (again dont quote me I just havent seen a 5.4 going to the left)

the 5.4l throttle body will work if you can grid and weld a little also a crown vic plenum is a half inch taller than your stock mustang one. I've got both on mine.

the throttlebody can be flipped and work just fine, its the size that im worried about.Maby ille just find and measure one while im there. And yes,my heads that i have are romeo and my car was assembled in aug. 1997 the last full month of production for it..i guess ille go out there and count.Thats a good idea, thanks.

clearence idnt an issue with me, i even had on a 70mm setup witrh spacers and all, wouldnt fit under the stock hood but i have a 3in cowl.. heres the pic of my engine. So ur saying thet that goofy tubular shapoed plenum on alot of vics 's is actually better than the square one i have with the 4.6ohc on it? if so ima grab one asap..

BTW, the plenum gave my eng a better growl and it seems it has better throttle response just a bit but it rides the RPM's higher when i full out gun it befor it engage, i can give the tires a nice squak when i gun it doing 30, even with the overdrive on..hehe so the setup helped..
