Which Clutch?

Its about time for a new clutch, one of my bearings is chirping and the clutch chatters a little sometimes. When I bought my car the guy told me that it is not the stock clutch. Im not sure what brand or what stage it is. Im guessing stage 2 because its stiff but perfect for daily driving too. Are there any brands you guys prefer? I work at Advance Auto so I could get a discount on Zoom clutches but I doubt they are any good.

I really like my SPEC clutch and flywheel. Others that you can look into are RAM, McLeod, Fidanza, and Centerforce. I have seen Zoom clutches for sale for Mustangs but never have known anyone to install one personally. Just check into getting a FRPP throw out bearing along with a new pilot bearing when its time to do it. Its a really nice feeling having a good clutch to work with!

Yea let me know. My clutch grabs fine its just either the pilot bearing or the throwout bearing is squeaking whenever my foot is off the clutch. Hopefully not a big deal until I get the money and time to put a new one in.

The RAM HDX is on sale right now at americanmuscle.com. I have one and I love it, its pretty grippy and I havent had any problems with it . +1 on going with the FRPP throwout and pilot bearing.

I personally run a spec stage 2 plus, but if you do some research it seems spec has one of the highest failure rate of the aftermarket clutches.I would recommend a Mcleoud or a Centerforce.

More than likely it is the TOB squeaking. Before spending money on a new clutch I would just inspect the one you have and if you need a new one don't go over board. With your current mods there really isn't a reason to use much more than a good stock replacement.

Well the clutch I have now was on when I bought the car and I love it. I think I might just keep the same clutch since it still grabs nice and replace the bearings and possibly get a new flywheel or at least get mine resurfaced. How do I go about replacing the pilot bearing? I saw somewhere to use a slide hammer but I wouldnt feel comfortable using that on my crank.

the pilot bearings are real PITA. I am heard of people packing them full of grease to help force them out.

Yea I had to pounc out the inner bearing race with a chisel in hammer just to fit the pilot bearing puller inside, the grease trick def didn't work for me.

Ive been doing some reading and Im pretty sure its the TOB. Thinking about going with the Ford Racing TOB. Is it a direct fit? I saw one review where the guy had to make a ton of adjustments.
