PI intake swap Coolant Temp question

Instead of taping the intake or housing to put the sensor in, couldnt I just cut the sensor off and splice the wires in with the ones to the other sensor? Just seems like a cleaner simpler way to me.

not sure if you can do that or not.

im swapping my motor with one from a lincoln and the tempature sensor is threaded into the cylinder head under the intake manifold.
i looked on my heads from my mustang engine theres a spot for it sure enough.

No because the sensors use different ranges

The passenger side on is the one that the ECU runs off of. The driver side runs the gauge.

my temp gauge doesnt work so when i did my pi swap i just put the ecu sensor in the hole in the intake and left out the one for the gauge

so yes...i never know how hot my engine runs
i couldnt get the right tap for it and i didnt wanna wait to send it out to get done so with my gauge not working i took a short cut.

You can do what i did.

I have a metal tube in my upper radiator hose. I tapped an aftermarket coolant gauge into it and run it like that.

Atleast i know the temperature when the thermostats open

It really sounds like you are referring to the knock sensors and not the coolant temp sensors. The knock sensors we can't use with a GT computer and the coolant sensors are in the coolant crossover in front of the alternator.

here is a pic of the knock sensors. There are two of them. In the block valley near the middle on both sides of the heater tube
