The first mod you can do is to rip every cobra badge on the car back off. If it is a GT leave it badged as a GT people on here are sticklers for that. I know its all opinions and it is your car, and putting the bumpers and hood on is cool, but for god's sake do not badge it as a cobra.

/Rant

If you're planning on going F/I you may want to drop the PI swap. The PI heads raises the compression on our cars which could be a bad thing if you plan on adding F/I. It all just really depends on what your goal is with the car as to what you want to do to it. There are so many options its ridiculous.

By the way, Welcome to Modded Mustangs

My car wishes it were your car.

There was actually a 97 Cobra at the local stealership last week, they wanted 9,800 for it. If my GT was completely paid for I would have traded it in right then and there and for that Cobra.

oh damn! lol I'm sure once your GT is paid off you can find a Cobra for cheap. The guy who I bought mine from needed money bad so he sold it to me for $8k with 3.73's, Novi2000, complete upgraded fuel system, CF hood, etc etc. Ofcourse I returned the body to stock because I think a stock Cobra is Sex. But yea...we got it for a steal.

Lol my car is a happy lightning-stang thing.

The badges will get you in trouble around here.

PI intake swap, decent set of 292 cams, vortech @10lbs. Youll be happy.

Thanks! I know it's a lot more $$ than you are looking to spend, but a turbo on 10psi will give you 400 rwhp easily with a stock motor.

I know others have their own opinions, but I think the ON3 kits are junk. I have factory manifolds in my car, but my b/f and I custom built the turbo kit (he owns a shop specializing in Mustang Perfomance and Turbo Kits). Personally I think nothing beats a custom kit. It's more money but it's quality parts, and it's made to fit your car the way it sits...not a generic jig.

i understand my buddy has a stock block 331 notch with the on3 kit with hci car is also a auto(c4) he puts down 620 to the wheels on 17psi he has had that kit for a while now no problems. i want to run the car on motor first.I think i am going to put a pi intake and cams o/r x pipe cat back system with 3.73 and have my dyno tune it.

Yea, that's definitely a good start. It should get your car into the 13's with the swap, gears and tune.

If you didn't notice, people don't take too kindly to Fobras around here. Doesn't matter if you've got nothing but authentic Cobra parts on it, and it is absolutely identical to one, the second you put that badge on it, an angry mob with pitchforks and torches will assemble, and chase you out of town.

...ok, maybe that won't happen, but people will piss and moan non-stop. The PO of my car decided to load it up with a bunch of Cobra parts, and the flaming has been pretty consistent. I don't even have badges, just the appearance. It's also been made clear that even after I drop the 03 Cobra motor, fuel tank, and T56 in, it will continue. Just giving you a heads up about cloning.

I think your biggest problem is you are already labeling it a Cobra by your user name, but have clearly stated it's a GT

Hahah I mean, sometimes it annoys me (a friend has a 96 V6 dressed up as a Cobra, and some people ask if it's my car....pffft! lol), but everyone has their own taste and opinion, and I don't make a big deal about it. As long as you openly say, no, sorry it's a V6 or a GT with a xxx body kit, I'm cool with it. lol
