actual help needed. looking to do the swap...

hello all again!

Its been a while since I posted on the threads here however there is due reason as to why. I've been looking for quite some time on how to do a swap. yes yes the six to 8 swap. Now before anyone says that it aint worth it and that I dont know how to use a search button I will be glad to inform you all that I have spent a few weeks using that search button and all i get is people saying that it is a hassle and that its better to just buy a new pony or super the sixxer. So yes maybe they are right, but i personally dont care if they are right, im going to to that damn swap and I would simply like to have a little bit of HELP to do so.

Plus if I planned on doing the stuff to the motor that I wanna do anyways, and do anything to the exhaust, intake, ignition system and fuel rails I would need to yank the whole damn thing out anyways, so really how much more PITA work will it really create for me. Plus my old man is going to be doing it with me and both of us think that it will be more fun than anything else. Oh and please dont sit there and tell me that no one has ever done this swap, lets be a little realistic here. But now that I have that disclaimer out of the way PLEASE HELP!

Like I have said I have done alot of searching and I cant really find anything useful for my model car. I have a 1998 SN95 v6, and I'm looking to put in a 4.6L from a f150 with the pi intake set up already done to it. So I got the motor, but I know thats not even half the battle...

I know that I will also need the tranny, im looking to do the auto outta a v8 simply because I have permanently injured my leg, plus i'm gunna use the car as a DD or for drag. I also know that an 8.8 with some 3.73's would do nicely, and that an ECU and the gauge cluster are also needed.

But I KNOW THATS NOT IT!?!?! but im having a hard time figuring out what else..... such as does the K member need to be swaped? how about the fuel lines and gas tank? radiator and its bulk tank? how about those wiring harnesses, if so which ones? just the engine or all of them?

I guess the quicker i get some useful info the quicker I can get this pony growling. Oh and yes in a couple of years a super charger will be in the picture so keep that in mind when suggesting stuff please!

(sorry to sound so short off if I do, its just that Ik what some people are going to reply back with and such....)

oh, btw, not looking to add the ABS or Trac control systems. Never had them and I really dont see the need for them since I've gone this long without them anyways.

also I was looking at lowering the car at the same time. But I've read that the added v8 weight weighs the front down anyways. Is this a poor mans lowering job? or will it not hold the added weight, or should i just suck it up and buy springs?

Yes the k member needs to be swapped over from a v8 car.
So does the master cylinder and some of the brake lines.
The radiator i have no clue but i do know we run a different resivoir then the 6er guys.

Your going to need a 4r70w for a 4.6/5.4, an ecu out of an auto MUSTANG. You may need the entire harness out of the car IE the dash harness and stuff. I dont think 6rs and 8rs have the same dash.

You need the 8r drive shaft too. You may also need the 8r transmission cross member.

Are the 6ers return or non return style fuel systems. If there return id recommend going to a bbk 255 pump right now. I dont know if the 6er one is smaller the the 8er.

Coolant fans might be different also know that i think about it aswell.

Fuel lines up front may be different.

You'll need the v8 MAF sensor too.

err i know im missing stuff.

actually i live in central wi, 54401 Wausau, I go to school in Stevens Point though.

and like I said sorry for the nasty way of writting this thread, lol just knew that someone was gunna say something that I already know.

but thank you for the input so far! the plan is to do drivetrain this year, then I'll get a full repaint after this next winter going black or sonic blue. That way I dont have to drive her another winter because in the fall I will plan on a new car as well.

oh and I also got ahold of a full interior from a 2004 mustang dark charcoal leather seats, steering column, carpeting, and all interior trim mint for little over 600, gunna throw that in there as well, but i'm gunna do a little custom work and make it like the two tone black and opal grey on bottom, only thin is this will be black and dark charcoal grey on the bottom should = awesomeness. lol
