Not that I am aware, no. I believe most explorers had a leaf spring rear end instead of the coil spring rear end. But if the lug pattern, axle width, brake lines, axle mounting system, are identicle, I don't see why not.

I have an axle out of an explorer in my Jeep Wrangler. That being said you can make them work in anything. But you have to get the brackets that work for your vehicle. Correct me if im wrong but i think that explorers have Leafs in the rear which means youd need to get spring perches and control arm brackets for the stang. not worth it. Regear your 8.8 if the 3.73s were all you were looking for.

explorers had leaf springs and where 31 spline where as the mustang rears are 28 spline. i have a ford 8.8 with 4.10's in my jeep. but as far as putting it in the mustang it cant be done because the housings are actually different.
