Would you be better off with a nicely timed 262 over a retarded 270 in light of PTV clearance?

I'm just going to run stock cams for now. Its being built so April can run it down at Pueblo. Cant have her car faster than mine lol. I got the stock heads and cams today. Monday i have to run to Ford to pick up the 2 timing chain dowel pins. And I'll just have to piece together a gasket set since everyone wants your left nut and first born for a engine gasket set.

How are you gonna clay those pistons when you start advancing the stock cams?

Thats old school. F that. Claying pistons isnt very accurate. Clay can move and squish more...
Just use your dial indicator... ![]() And unless you advance the HELL out of stock PI cams...you won't have any issues! YOu can run 262s down to about 106-107* ICL till its too tight. PI cams have a lot less duration than 262s...

Even with that 4V bottom end? That's the only reason I ask.

The piston lip is all the same height. The intake valve would hit in the exact same place as on a normal 4.6 block so yes even with the 4v bottom end. Ill take some pictures when i get the npi block pulled out today or tomorrow.

Mike is right. Look at the pistons and dish. The dish doesn't make it to the edge of the piston...and the valves sit on the very edge of the cyl wall. So piston dish does NOT matter in a modular. 2v, 3v, 4v...Itll still contact in the same place...flattop or 22cc dish...

So I got the motor re-installed but I'm back to square 1. It turns over, its getting spark and seems to be getting fuel. I'll be checking fuel pressure in a bit. Any other ideas????
