97 gt PI teskid build

Ok so i picked up a 97 gt mustang the other day. I traded off a 244,444 mile 92 suburban for a non running coupe.

The guy said it over heated and quit running. I put a good battery in it and it seems to be turning over. I wont know for sure until i have someone turn it over while i'm watching. Anyway. It was completely out of radiator fluid so since i had some lying around i poured a little in it. Figured a little is better than none. But before i started to pour it i noticed 2 little pieces of metal laying in the fluid tank.

So then i got suspicious. and removed the thermostat housing. Low and behold there is no thermostat in there.

Where the hell could it have gone? i have a hard time believing it got sucked in the motor to where it wont let it start, but i really dont know.

Well I figured i'd try to get it started. I'm going to build another teskid 2v and swap in. It would just be nice to hear it start so i know all of the supporting components work.

...if they made it in the fluid tank...somethings wrong.

The line to the fluid tank is only about 1/2 inch lol.

I don't beleive that to be the thermostat. Physically impossible. Its prob the cap to the tank and it fell apart. IDK

But hey Mike. I want those wheels! Those are my fav!

Wow, flashback to Oki. Did you make sure there wasn't a milkshake before you cranked it? That bottom end might not yet be wasted after all. You can start it to see if it starts bone dry without wasting any coolant. How'd you pull it home?

That's what i think also but the thermostat housing had looked to never been off. I have a hard time believing it also. But if not that still leaves the question as to where the thermostat went.

^ Some ppl think that removing them will make the car run better and faster, but keeping the motor cold...what they don't know is the car never getting warm will keep it in 'cold' start mode and it will never swap over to warm fuel tables and run rich all the time, making it actually slower...and worse MPG...

I'm aware of that. I'll head over in a bit and pull a plug and see if its getting spark. I swear its getting fuel because i can smell it when i crank it over. And I'm hoping its not a pats problem.

OK so after going back over and looking at it. It is turning over and pumping fuel out the (L) exhaust pipe. Checking for spark. If no spark on (L) side i'll check the (R). If spark on (R) side i'll swap coil packs and see if maybe its just a bad coil.

What i thought was fuel pumping out of the exhaust turned out to be just water. So i checked the oil again. I must have over looked the milkiness of the oil. I pulled 2 plugs and found them both wet. Once letting them dry i checked for spark and had spark. So Now i'm thinking its a blown head gasket on the drivers side. Should i just be cheap and slap a head gasket on it, or should get the pi swap stuff and do another pi swapped teskid motor?

You need to pull the heads and see if one or both are warped, check the deck of the block too. Then there's the uncertainty of the bearings, if he ran it long enough to wash them out.

I'm going to drain the oil dry the plugs and put some used oil i have lying around in it and drain the radiator. Just to see if it will even start. I've got a set of pi heads and intake. but I need cams. And i think i'll want to use N/A cams this time.
