catalytic converters...help lol

so my car runs a 4" turbo back pipe into a 2.5" y to my catback. i have one stretch of pipe thats 13" long and would be perfect for a cat....but it has a 4" diamiter. the only 4" cats i can find is for deisels...i dont have to pass emissions though i just need the look of the cat. what im wondering is if i can get a diesel cat and run it as is on my engine or if i should buy it gut it and then weld it in?

running it would do it no harm...but you can go to a junk yard or something and gut one...as long as you have it is what ever.

Diesel cat is not remotely close to a gasoline cat. Not sure what would happen if you ran it. I'd be concerned about things like temps and build up. Best bet is gutting some junkyard cats.

You guys can buy cats in a junkyard? That's illegal out here.

Local regulation I suppose. I was shocked to find a yard out here with the cars intact. Basically took it from a wreck and dumped it in the yard. You are in environazi California after all.

But for appearance he doesn't even need actual cats. Cut some mufflers or resonators out and weld them in. No one will know the difference.

Really? In NY I was told they were supposed to visually inspect for them. Of course the shop I went to didn't have a lift low enough for my car, so they just passed it through, not noticing the O/R X pipe.

I was told by a few people its just the computer check. My rear O2s are off and were allowed 1 incomplete circuit. So it was all good.
