80mm massair w/o a tune....

so just for shits and giggles i installed my c&l 80mm massair unit with a 19lb sample tube and a stock mafs..my car is running it just fine, and its a hell of lot faster than with the stock mafs, NOW! dont i need a tune.? i was told that it shouldnt even stay running or have idle surge or a million other problems.Well, i have none..my rpm's at idle while in D sit and about 500 and in park a tad bit over..no surge or anything...how is this possible? my exhaust didnt smell funny, no loss of power( the complete opposite), shifts fine even better id say because it runs out the rpm's a bit more..

its just a 80mm c&l mafs housing unit with a 19ln sample tube in it and a stock 1997 mustang mafs in it..it actually scares me when i gun it doing 30 now..the rpm's fly high then it kicks in gear the wheels give a very nice squak..haha and i picked the c&l part up for 40 bucks only and he threw in a never used plenum spacer.yesyesyes snakeoil, but i like how the intajke sits higher becuase i have a cowl hood and i can see down in there.plus it helps the angle for my coldair intake..

Codes relating to the O2 sensors are the ones to be worried about. As already mentioned, without datalogging the car with a WBO2, you just really don't know how "safe" everything is.
