96 mustang. new head and runs like s**t
ok guys this is what i have. 96 gt 4.6 over heating. took passenger side head off had it pressure checked and it was cracked on #3 cylinder. got new "used" head and had it checked and decked everything look great no leaks or anything. put the head on got it all buttoned up and runs like s**t. replaced all plugs, wires, flushed out injectors and rails still no change. checked the compression 140-150psi across the board. which should be enough for the deep dished forged pistons that are in it. im running out of ideas any help would be appreciated.

yes. using the cam lifters and rockers from the old head. but the car ran fine before just pressurized the coolant system.

"deep dished forged pistons"
Is it tuned for that ? it might need different timing. there is a chance that the timing is off on it, pull the front cover and check it again. Before you do that unhook the battery reset the ECU and check that. Might need a tune . Also check the cam shaft position sensor wife and crank trigger wheel...just to name a few. Also make sure your front O2 are plugged in .

No cel's. I've put this motor in time a couple times before the same way and its ran fine every time. The thing is it will fire right up no hesitations. But as soon as it idles down it just starts missin. Also has new coil packs. Im thinkin injector but not sure?

And it has the pistons because of the svo s/c kit on it.

sounds like vaccume then . check IAC...check vaccume lines and intake sealing. also might be something like the TPS.... sounds sensor related or tune.

Lol did you tighten the head gasket properly? You said it ran fine before you pressurized the coolant system

ya it got tightened down correctly. and it ran fine with the other head on it just the crack caused the head to pressurize.
