Thinkin about getting a 4.10 ratio ring and pinion set, any one know how that will effect torque and acceleration?

I have 4.10's in mine there fun gears. Tend to run a little high in the rpms on the highway. It's won't add hp or tq if that's what your asking? Besides the acceleration fact all it really does is after shifts cuz of the shorter gears leaves you higher in the rpms for the next gear thus leaving you inside your power curve unlike stock gears where as your basically back at idle after shifts

when changing from stock to say 3.73 do you need to replace any bearings or anything, such as a crush bearing? or will all the original stock stuff work?

if the 4.10s keep u in the power range and quicker shifts, then why do dragers use the 3.73 with a longer 1st? Is is to keep them from shifting too much?

I know this is kinda off topic, but which gear is better for street racing and will allow you to get and maintain the highest speed? Lets say.. 140 mph.

Idk any drag cars running 3:73's so I can't answer that. 4.10's area plus is all I ever see

Yeah i see most drag cars with a 4.10's or higher, i only see 3.73's with a c4 or c6 transmission with a ratchet shift kit.

but since the 4.10s let you get through the gears quicker, doesnt that hurt the overall top speed?

Yes. I would replace the bearings at the same time too. You should take the opportunity to rebuild your trac loc with carbon fiber discs as well while you have it all opened up. That way when your done then you are truelly done with the rear end work.

Not exactly just means you'll be in a lot higher rpms at those speeds. I've been 140mph with my 4.10's (on a closed course with a professional driver of course) just was a tad high in the rpms. And if my car is trapping 140+ range than it's time for a completely different setup

would it hurt anything if you just kept the stock bearings and replaced the gears only?
