Engine Troubles... 97 GT

Alright so I just wanted a couple people's opinion on what I should do with this problem I am now in.
So I was driving down the road and there was this puddle .. Drove through and the passenger side dipped into a pot hole, which sucked up a ton of water through my intake stalling my engine almost immediately. Towed it home pulled the spark plugs managed to get the majority of the water out of the cylinders. Drained the oil to get water out, did the most I could without having to take alot of things apart. Tried starting my engine and it turned over for a couple second when I heard one like giant knock. Kinda seems as if the crankshaft doesn't want to turn anymore. So as of now i'm pretty sure i'm SOL and have some bent rods. I'm going to pull the engine sometime this week to see what all went wrong but just wanted some of your advice.

Thanks everyone.

Worst case scenero is a rod bent due to not getting all the water out of the cylinders.

Huge it was more like a lake... But it wasn't too deep just an inch or so below my door. Once I hit that hole though it submerged almost my entire front right tire.

Yeah it will crank by hand but not much, after a while it just kinda locks up.. But I'm about to go out now and pull off the intake, heads and probably the block to see if I messed up my cylinders/connecting rods. Hope things don't look too terrible but I'll let you all know how it goes.

id let it sit for a day or two, then give it another shot. Gotta let it dry out a little.

I'm hoping it's that simple, haha. Just took out the intake manifold and poured almost a gallon of water out of it.. Taking a short break then I'll pull the heads.

Well I found out whats wrong... The bottom of the piston in my 5th cylinder exploded and snapped the rod in half. Soo time for a rebuild or perhaps a new engine. But lesson of the day is Mustang's do not make good boats......
