Groaning when Turning

Ok, so I am completely at a loss on what to do here. I have a 97 Mustang GT and when I bought it there was an aftermarket suspension system on it and things worked great for a while. But in the past month she groans when I turn even if its a small turn. It is an incredibly annoying thing because her exhaust sounds great but that groaning makes her sound like a piece of junk... You guys have any idea what it could be and how I could fix it? Its a low pitched groan

The first thing I would do is confirm that all the suspension joints are greased

Have you given your car a lube job? There are many rubber bushings, that when dry, will squeak and creak like a big dog. Take it in to your local shoppe and have them give it a once over. Non-lubed bushings will not only make noise, but wear out faster causing additional expenses over time.

Balljoints will groan when they're on their way out, too.

Ok, thanks guys. My friend and I think it may be the bushings. But I will check the power steering fluid (Easy Fix) and the other things mentioned and hopefully get it figured out!!! Lol now onto the more expensive fixes... (My Brembo Brakes need new pads and lines.. sigh ouch)

Alright... So I did the power steering fluid. And that has not fixed the problem. Since that isn't the problem what else could it be? And what is the most likely to be the problem

What do you mean by you "did" the power steering fluid?

Did you just check it (and if so did you do it with the car running? 'cause that's how you're supposed to...)?

Or did you do a flush of the system and replace all the burnt nasty fluid with fresh?

probably a wheel bearing. If you driving try to coast so your exhaust isnt too loud then turn the wheel back and forth ever so slightly so you car zig zags a little. If it groans like a wooo woooo wooo everytime you start to turn its most likey the wheel bearing. ball joints and other joints usually squeak not groan. other than the wheel bearing your power steering is at fault. Check the fluid and make sure theres no air in the system. Your pump might be starting to fail

It is a the "woo woo" sound. lol
Ya it isn't a squeaking noise not even close it just a low pitch sound like you described.
So since it is that low pitch noise. What exactly do I need to get done?
I know the two were mentioned... But honestly I am not sure how to fix it...

Is it only making this noise when the car is moving, or is the noise present if you turn the wheel while stationary? That will help narrow it down.

If it's only when moving, then it's a fair bet that it's a wheel bearing.

sigh... cost on that? The real kicker is x pipe has gone out and my brembo pads are done... :-) that's an easy 300... So any idea of what the cost for that will be and how hard it will be to fix?

A front hub/wheel bearing assembly should be around $50. It isn't a difficult job.

very simple..remove the brakes. pull the dust cap off..break the 30mm spindle nut..and slides right off...slide on (after applying wheel bearing grease to spindle shaft) then tighten down hub and put everything back together lol
