motor of choice???

ok well i reallly messed up this time i put a rod throught the side of my motor the other day and have found a couple for cheap to install one is a 97 with 91000miles and cost 1200 and the other is a 01 with 45000miles and cost 1575 but my question is, is the 01 motor able to bolt in and use the 97 harness?? thanks oh and my car is a 97 with 100xxx miles on it btu in good shape everywhere but the engine

Yes, you will have to reuse your coil packs from the '97 or rewire your harness for the COP's. The ('01) have different front covers and use a different water pump and pully. '97 has a 3 bolt tensioner and the '01 should be a 1 bolt tensioner if I remeber correctly.

but is it one of those things where i would be better off with the 01 or 97 motor im no longer worried about power i just wanna be able to drive the thing haha.... so i would use my 97 coil packs with the 01 motor and also the water pump and tensioner too??? please explain it to me..

97' coil packs, front cover, water pump and tensioner on '01 block. You might as well take advantage of the newer engine.

hey thanks guys ill go with that on then but is it gonna affect my pcm/ecm at all as far as codes being spit out???

newer one is PI which is a + also has 1/2 the miles as the 97 motor!
