Basically slot the holes on the Poly mount and still use the spacer it comes with. Set the mount as far back on the xmember as you can and use the spacer like normal, it works.

Ya see that is NOT the right transmission mount. It should be offset where it mounts to the cross member.

But alright sounds like I need to get my cross member out of my donor car and see about modding it to fit the Urethane one.

^ Its pretty easy. If you have some sort of a grinder...it takes like 3 mins to modify.

^ Now that you mention it, I'm pretty sure I had to modify the one I bought in order for it to fit correctly too.

Bringing this one back up.

So, you guys are talking about using a fox trans mount and modifying it to use in 96 - 98 GT?

How about using a Cobra tailshaft housing, Cobra trans mount, and either welding mounting tabs in or sourcing the Cobra tabs?

Lol... Thanks, smart guy.

Here's the deal, Zak's ready to ship my trans but I don't want to use the mushy old trans mount. He can put whichever tail shaft housing on so I'm just trying to find the most expedient solution since nobody actually makes a poly mount for a GT. Which poly mount did you modify for your GT?

Oh yeah... Did you get a new cell or just put me on ignore?

im overseas in the middle east right now brother. Sorry.

I used a fox body poly mount. Slotted the holes on the mount itself and then still used the spacer that came with it. Still holding. Well it was holding till I busted up the 3/4 shift fork. lol

PS. You won't be disapointed with Zaks trans. Its awesome!

Whatever tailshaft he can give you...make it the one that puts the mounting location as close to the front of the car as possible.

Thanks for the info, that's what I'll do.

I kinda thought you might be deployed. You keep your head down over there, Bro. I don't want to be reading about you in the paper. Drop me a line when you're headed home, I'll keep you up to date on the new toys.
