looking for cobras
So i never post in this section but im graduating in january and i was thinking on using grad money to buy a 96-98 cobra. I would love a termi but insurance is way to high, this body style isnt to bad. I wanted to know what prices they run in your area and what price i should pay? Also is there anything i should look for when buying one(common problems, etc). Thanks guys! And post pics of your favorite cobras

Have you considered an 01 Cobra? More power, better interior, better looking. And they are way cheaper on insurance than a term. I picked mine up with 30k miles for $12k about 2 years ago.

to each his own..i dont like the 99/01 cobra's...i think there a v6 looking car with a v8 in them...and better looking exterior/interior is all in opinion there sike...
the interiors are damn near the same thing, minus subtle changes like center console, stereo bezel design, but to say better, i think not id much prefer REAL black leather of the sn95's over the cheap faded looking charcoal any day...just reccomend ditching the stock radio setup...exterior wise..stock v6 hood flipped around, 1/2 of them have the terrible looking 99-01 spoiler and ugly chrome headlights.. and BIG difference is the stupid irs...personally i wouldnt own one with an irs..if i bought a termi that would be first even before exhaust..... SAME brakes, besically the same engine (few hp here or there).....plus i think the sn95 cobra's compete with termi as best looking non shelby or special edition mustangs made...and btw the weight difference between an sn95 cobra and a 99-01 makes it about even even with hp differences..

Don't pay no more than 9500$ even with one with low miles.
Things to look out for.... IMRC's may get clogged. You can either clean them or delete them. Not too hard to do. 96's ran hot. There is a TSB on it. 98's had different "SVT" rims and had a better (more parameters) EEC. 96-97 had a strut tower brace. 98's didn't. 96-97 had a clock pod. 98's didn't. Mid 98' tremec bought borg warner so all trannys from mid year had tremec stamped on it. 98's came in 2 rare colors from previous years (Canary yellow and bright atlantic blue). Hope this helps.

personally..id turn a GT into a faster than cobra and less on insurance car..plus it would be yours, have the mods how you want them, and have it built to how you like to drive it..say a 96 gt with a cobra motor or a 32V baby cobra but built up..

99 Cobras got the same hood as the v6's but the 01's hood is the complete opposite the opening is facing the driver instead of the street, and they def. Don't look like v6's. I personally don't like the 99 Cobras that much but the 01's is a different story for many reasons

Color wise i love all the colors, and i just checked insurance and its $400 more a year then my 00 V6 so its not that bad, maybe a months worth of paychecks. Thanks again for all the help and ill keep you updated!

x2 I agree you can make a 96-98 just as fast as a cobra i did the cobra swap on mine and it was pretty easy. If you have the time. In so cal these cobras usually at a dealer range from 7-11k and private owners usually 5-9k but remember cash is king if you can buy one with cash do it.

Personally I think those sn95 are the ugliest years made. That being said my buddy is selling his 96 with 71k on it all stock and original for 6500. He added brand new light fixtures as his were yellowing.
