Casper98Gt

First off, awesome write up on the cam swap, but where did you find that tool for the timing chain? I have looked everywhere for it and can only find them for V6 and DOHC 4.6 and and there is a master kit that has it but it is over $300.

First it probably would have been a better PM then a post.

just have someone hold the cam gear up so that the chain doesnt get slack in it
Second thats bad advise, 4.6 SOHC mod motors have tensioners on the chains and guides. When you "just have someone hold it " it takes up tension and trys to pull the cam down with you.

GTsetGo is correct, this is a Aftermarket tool that you can buy for cheap money and works great. But the tool that i have is a tool i bought from Rotunda tools, its a site that sells tool to ford techs. My cost was around 75 dollars for it and it was worth every penny.

So if you dont want to pull the front cover buy one. When you put it in make sure it in there good, then have someone handy STILL when you use the tool. So they can hold the cam IF the tool fails.

Well I guess it was your bad advice, cause thats what you told me to do. Is it not?

Again, mine is a ford special service tool. But you might be able to find one at a Autozone to rent. Or look up the phone number to youre local Snap-On, or MAC, or Cornwell Tools and ask them if you could buy one.
