I've always heard the best place too hook the voltmeter into is the alternator. When i bought my old bronco it had those auto zone gauges in and the voltmeter ran over to the alt. I dunno if that's how everyone else does it.. but that's at least my .02c

i was hoping i could be lazy and run it off my lighter wires under my cd player..in the cougar there is a compartment and a lighter there, perfect size to fit 3 gauges..i was playing with them today seeing where id like to mount them..i just feel that up by the windsheild is more ricey than just having them..

Lol, I dunno. I was told that having the voltmeter hooked into the alternator will help you know when the alt is starting to give less volts and therefore going bad. I guess its up to you... wouldn't hooking it into an accessory in the car just give you the battery volts? I dunno.. maybe im not the best to help.

I can tell ya, i dont think its ricey to have the gauges up in the windshield. I have a 3 gauge pillar that holds my volt, water temp and oil pressure. I use them and therefore their not ricey.. i had a friend once that had a boost gauge some how hooked into his vacuum line.. i think its stupid to have a huge 5'' tach hooked into an automatic honda civic.. your cars bad dood, gauges will look okay in my book in the windshield.

Lol i mean you might be able to plug it there. I would hook it to the alternator output

AF if its a narrow band hook it to one of the wires on the stock 02. If its a wideband you have to weld in your own bung and install your own sensor

If its a narrow band though you'll have 2 completely usless gauges. One to tell you your batterys dead in the morning...which turning the key will tell you that and the other will just flash alot of light

now thats the ricey part!

And a honda just wouldnt be a complete ricecake if it didnt have the 5" tachmeter. A guy i know has a manual civic SI with one of those 5" autozone tachs and the funny part is it doesnt even read correct and the one in his dash works perfectly fine. His 5" tach is like 2 seconds behind his normal tach and about 300 rpms slower lol

Step 1: Sell it on eBay.
Step 2: Use profit towards buying a WBO2 if you want to keep track of your AFR.

I agree with you on the gauge location. I have three 2 1/16" Autometer gauges in that same spot on my XR7.

That's the stock steering wheel ('90 XR7). The majority of the rest of the interior (dash, console, door panels, sail panels, etc.) are '97 pieces.

It won't be legal to install it in your '97, as you would be removing the airbag (the 89-93's did not have airbags). Also, it isn't exactly a bolt on affair. It takes some rewiring and a custom bracket for the horn/cc contacts in order to install it on a '97 column. It'll also look a little out of place, unless you're sticking a blower on the car.
