Yeah that's what I thought. Yeah mine is a 98, so...the speedo gear is the one that goes in the tranny correct? Where can I get one that will match 4.10s and 18" wheels with 275/45 rear and 245/45 front?

You people are a wealth of knowledge...thank you!

Yes, it goes in the transmission tailshaft. You'll need the 21-tooth purple gear. Ford P/N D0OZ-17271-B. You should be able to pick one up from a dealership, or run a quick search on google for one.

after market speedo gears are a hit and miss when it comes to quality, i went the electrical way rather than the mechanical way to solve the speedometer issue, dallas mustangs sells a speed cal, which is an adjustable calibration tool for gears, easy to install and its about $130 on their ebay store (dmperformance i believe), the best part is in the future if you chance gears again for whatever reason, you use the same unit you already have to compenste for the new gears by switiching the settings on the speed cal, instead of having to buy another gear since they are all different for different gears.

Quit being a vagina.. Go with the 4.10 or even better a 4.30. I have a 2000 GT that I DD and drive on the eway at 80+ all the time. I have a 4.30 in my car. I still get over 22MPG on the open road depending on how i drive it.... I still get about 300 miles a tank. Stock gear at 70 was 2000RPMs.. 70MPH with 4.30 is like 2500RMS.. Not a huge differnce. I can take 4th gear all the way to read line and be at 110MPH. then i still have OD if i need to go faster. But whats the point? no need to go faster then 110. And in a 1/4 im crossing the line right at red line.. MY traps are around 108-110.

PERFECT if you ask me!
