96 gt wont stay running

I have a 96 gt I had the car running sat night and Monday morning when i went to start the car for school in the morning it wouldn't kick over just replace the starter and is still doing the same thing. It will stay running as long as you hold rpm above 2k but it has a very dull sound. Anyone have any ideas???
oh and it is also running rich

thanks

Sounds like u have a vacuum leak, when i first put my cold air intake on a hose popped off and the car would run aslong as it was in gear and i had my foot on the gas but whenever it was in neutral it died, popped the hood and seen it was the hose that popped off.

So check all the hose connections to your cold air intake, throttle body, and plenum. Check all connections make sure they are snug and tight and no air is leaking out or if anything is cracked. If everything still looks fine then u might have a intake manifold gasket air leak on the top of the heads.

I know that if the cars IAC valve is running perfect.. apparently if the sensor gets unplugged the car will not stay running. If that is plugged in.. there are several small vacuum lines on the upper plenum itself.. including a pesky one on the back in the middle of the plenum that likes to crack or come off.

if it's not a line try cleaning your IAC. had that issue with my 01' and all my hoses were snug so i cleaned my IAC which was the cure.
