PI or NPI Intake

This '98 'Stang I recently picked up has the intake w/ the aluminum crossover. I was told that it is the NPI by the previous owner. When I pulled the intake I noticed the part# RF1L2E-8C368-AA on the underside of the crossover. Is this the number for a NPI or PI intake? The first intake runner comes in from the right, which I heard means it is a NPI.

PI = first runner after the cross over (plastic or aluminum) goes to driver side
NPI = first runner after the cross over (plastic or aluminum) goes to pass side

also just look how deep it sit into the block..if there is a large area its a npi..after i did my PI swap that gap in there got very small, now with the typhoon manifold on there next to no room from the block to the manifold..its kind of a flaw in the typhoon as its aluminum so it obsorbs the heat from the block thats its close to..

Agreed, not trying to jack but was wondering if anybody has done the Livernois PI Intake kit and what they thought of it?? Something about doing a PI intake mod using port mismatch gaskets on the DD doesn't sit well with me and is why I am thinking of the livernois kit.

Yes, looks like my '98 has the NPI intake. I compared it to my '96, which has a complete PI swap done (heads and intake). I hadn't noticed the difference in runners before.

$500 for that kit! I know PI heads and intake can be found for less than that.

ya..and? this isnt a pi setup..i got PI heads and cams for trade for my old polished 75MM plenum and Tbody..but try and piece a kit togther like mine for less than 500..and i ran my car for over 2years with a PI manifold on npi heads with RTV..never one issue..if its done propperly why would you worry about it?

I was saying $500 seems excessive to put a PI intake on NPI heads (Livernois kit) when it can be done with gaskets and RTV for much less and with good results.

It worked for me back when i had a npi motor. Totally reliable and aslong as you do it right the first time iv never heard of anyone having an issue with it after the fact.

Yeah dorman is slightly different, they have to use their own specific dorman gasket from what i understand.
