AT LAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ford Mustang Hood - SN95, Aftermarket, Vented

I got one. The guy had no clue what it was and only wanted $75 and for someone to come get it out of his garage.
I have been looking for one for almost 7 years now and cannot believe I found one 30 minutes away for so cheap. I was about to send someone in Vegas $1050 for one shipped to me.

here it is in the bed of the truck.

I CANNOT wait to get it painted and on the car.

The craziest part is that he wants to buy my stock hood once I get this one installed.

Congrats on the find, but are those vents which look to be placed towards the driver instead of the road even gonna make any difference besides pleasing the eyes? I always wondered if vents made a difference cuz then i would cut out the 2 fake vents on the sides of my stock GT hood then put back on those plastic hole covers lol

lovestang thats what i did to my old gt hood before i got the cowl...i drilled holes in all the little round impressions and just put mesh screening behind it... and obviously cut out any hood framing behind it...

and 97s281 ive never been a fan of the s281 hoods for out cars..ive never been a fan of scooped hoods..but thats a hell of a deal for any nice aftermarket hood..nice find but im glad your happy with it

It should function just like the 03/04 Cobra hood. The vents are considered "heat extractors." By venting the air pressure behind the radiator, you decrease airflow stagnation/recirculation, and increase crossflow, thus improving your heat rejection/TTD.

That hood does look sweet btw.

7 years... Couldn't you have bought a sn95 s281 hood, and do the cut outs yourself. Or you didn't want to spend all that money and not have to do the work. Just asking. Good find.

SHHHHH...Do you smell that?

No, the saleen hood hasn't been produced in years and it actually has a rise on the cowl side. There are no other aftermarket hoods that match up. They either don't have the rise at the back, they have no side vents or they have a large lip at the front. Considering the car is a Saleen, I wanted to go with an actual Saleen hood.

I went and saw the paint man today, I am going to get my new spoiler painted along with repainting my rear bumper and a trim piece. I drop it all off next week on Wednesday. I may go back and talk with him again tommorow and see what he would charge for the whole car instead of just the parts.

I think Harwood makes a aftermarket S281 hood, I'm not sure if it has the side vents though, but then again its a moot point since you have found the hood of your dreams.

What kind of mesh did you use and did rain ever creep inside when u left it parked in a nasty rainstorm? I got some AVS rainguards on my car so i can smoke in the rain i wonder if i can make a little tiny rainguard for the holes lol. Il have to experiment next summer when it gets hot and i start to have heating issues again.
