Track Times!
Okay so I got to make 5 passes down the quarter today! I ran the best of a 16.026 @ 86.68 with a 2.465 60'. The 16.026 time was the last run of the day! No videos for that one srry! The first run of the day was 16.520 @84.88 with a 2.603 60'. The second run was a 16.444@85.17 with a 2.536 60'. The third run of the day was 16.237 @ 85.89 with a 2.471 60'. The fourth run was my worst as i missed second and third lol 17.169 @ 82.93 with a 2.669. And then the final run of the day was the 16.026! Now on the first four runs I went around the water box, but then cut it after I spun my tires to clean them off which made me closer to the middle of the track which is also the sticker part. This made me bogg like crazy even on a 4K launch. The 5th run I went around the water box, but this time stayed to the out side of the track. This allowed me to spin off of my launch and gained me the 2.465 60'. Any tips or critizum is welcome and Ill be getting the rest of the videos posted soon!
1st Run!

Well first of all my track it at 5800 feet! and I am doing trying to powershift, but I am still kinda afraid to do that so I dont let my RPMs rise much at all I just keep it at the same RPM that I pressed the clutch in at. I was shifting at around 6000 RPM which I know I should have done lower, but seat time is the answer!

also get that 60 ft way down, 5 tenths on a 60 is worth a second on average, just practice launchin at different rpms. if you have any questions feel free to pm me and ask me about launching styles, ive done it in a buncha different cars (none of them mine but 03 cobras, lightnings, formulas, s10s, eclipses etc)
o0o and just to keep from controversy i cut a 1.7 in my buddies cobra on kumho ecxstas....

Not bad at all for your first runs. I believe stock you should be arounf mid 15's. The altitude played a big role in your times too.

honestly matt, last time i checked i believe you said you were only 16. And this was your first run. And you just recently got ur license. Those time are decent for someone who just jumped in. Our cars unmodified start to dip in power past 4800 rpms. Ok, when i say dip, i mean drops like a prom dates dress on prom night. Next time you run try shifting at like 5 instead of 6.

Yeah I do agree that I should have been shifting around 5200 where my powerband falls on its face! And yes you are correct that I am 16 and just recently got my licence! For that fact right there I think that I was in so much aw and nervous and everything, that I stumbled when I was thinking of shifting! I am hoping to go next wednsday and I am going to stay on the outside of the lane and I am also going to try shifting at different RPMs!

Figuring the altitude correction you ran a 15.0984 e/t @ 87.7573 mph on your best run. Work on the 60's and lower your shift points to around 5000-5200..... Corrected (altitude) you should be able to run a 14.70 all day.
When you correct for the altitude that is not a bad time CONGRATS !!!!!!!

Not bad fellah. Looks good. And if youre stock or close to even CAI, exhaust and such...dont shift anywhere close to redline. My car started to drop off at 4800-4900rpms. I have pi equipment and i LOVE it because it pulls hard all the way to the top. Dont worry about powershifting right now...its not in youre best interest. Just concentrate on youre 60 ft times. If you wanna save gas and take it easy on youre car...concentrate on the 60 foot times and then once youre half way down the track shut down. For the first 3-4 runs i do i get in the mind set of 60 footers...i teach myself what i need for a good 60 ft get used to my car again. Then i run it all the way to the top. Good luck. My first run was a 15.1 in my GT stock when i was 19. Then i got some exhaust and some coil packs and CAI and other goodies...ran a 14.6 couldnt get out of it until i put the coil packs and wires on and ran a 14.4. Then got PI intake and better exhaust and x-pipe ran a 14.1. Ran into a set of DR's and ran a best still of 13.87@99mph. Now i have PI cams and better clutch. Have some lower and upper CA's with a JLT CAI, 75mm TB and plenum. Cant wait for more action. gotta get tuned again.
All from a 15.1 - 13.8 in a series of about 3 yrs.

shifting at 5-5.2k doesnt seem to help much ( i know i tried it when i was bone stock and went 17.4 at 83 mph ) i would stick around shifting at 5700 or 5800 (but trying different things is the best way to learn)

Well it is true that the NPI engines fall flat on there faces right around 5000 RPM! But once you have a PI intake on there it will pull harder up top and even harder with some cams! I have yet to install my intake! I have been so busy hopefully on sunday though!
