oil pressure at. idle

So today after 50 miles of driving my new engine I'm rolling up yo a light and I notice my pressure guage is low so I rev and it shoots to normal, now its been doing this all day.

Been fine up untill now I'm worried

Side note. The car wants to die at stop lights too could I be idling to low?

This is only ay idle so it scares me

well my 1st guess would be your oil pump...does your Tbody have a throttle screw you can adjust?

What rpm are you idling at, and what oil pressure are you seeing at idle?

Do not attempt to adjust idle rpm by messing with that screw.

i never have but i did on my old honda..doesnt the screw just set the tps abit to run up or decrease the rpms based on the posistion on the tps? or open or close the throttlebody blade to allow or decrease airflow to adjust the idle?

The TPS "latches" when you first turn the key to "ON", so no. However, it needs to still be within range. Just remember that idle speed is adjusted in the EEC, not by the throttle body stop screw.

This is hard to answer because when its running normal its usually 700 or so. But like i said when im coming to a stop it surges a bit then turns off. But anywhere between 500-900 on surging. Just sits at low.

When it's idling steady at 700 rpm, what is the oil pressure? If by "sits at low", you mean you're using the factory gauge, then it's time to get a real oil pressure gauge. The factory gauge is just a 7psi on/off switch.

Also, what oil viscosity are you using? This is on your 4V swapped car, right? Have you tuned the car for whatever you've done to it?

Ok so i went out this morning checked the oil it was a little low, so i put about 3/4ths a quart in Turned it on, When the car warmed up went and pulled the iac valve it wanted to die so i know thats good,

Then i checked the voltage at the battery with the car running it was around 13v. So im pretty sure that was good.

Then i let the car idle warm and my freaking tach isnt working i got one of those tachs you have to tap the guage face and this time it wouldnt freaking move (cold maybe?!)

So i couldnt tell what she was idleing at but it was flickering between nor"ma"l and low oil pressure so before the " "normal.

Checked ford tsb and it said for initial start up use 5w-20 So i went with that.

I have not tuned the car yet no. But everything and i mean everything in the bottom end is new, not used Brand new.

Havent had an issue for the first 50 miles ive been driving it till yesterday its not making any funny noises either. But i think your right i need to get a oil pressure guage or check it manually, its just making me mad my stupid tach already doesnt work either i hate ford tachs.

The surging idle is likely due to the tune, especially if you're running the stock tune with larger injectors/different MAF.

Definitely install a real oil pressure gauge, even if just temporarily. You're not receiving any useful information whatsoever from the factory gauge.

Are you running your stock 2V injectors and MAF then? Or the ones that came on the 4V?

Is a mechanical or electrical aftermarket gauge better?

I prefer electrical as it's a cleaner install as opposed to routing the capillary tubing for a mechanical, but that is entirely your choice.
