Key Fob?

Did any of the 96 mustangs come with the key fobs? I'm tired of having to put the key in the door to open it. I'm scared ill scratch the paint on them dark morning when I leave. If they do how can I tell if I have a model that came with it? I didn't get one when I bought the car but it was a salvage too.

Yes, my couisins cobra has a fob and it is a 96.

I have no clue how to tell but most places around here sell a remote start with a fob that starts the car and unlocks the doors for around $150-$200 installed. That may be your best bet.

I have the factory key fob for my 94 so they could have them in 96 if you want to check you should be able to find some crazy programming sequence that involves turning the key on and off dozen times usually if you do that code and at the end your locks cycle ( lock/ unlock) then your car is ready to accept a key fob meaning it had one from the factory if you do the code right and nothing happens you probably don't have keyless entry and you would need to find an aftermarket solution like s281 suggested.

If your car is pretty well loaded you might have keyless entry but if you have manual windows or locks or cloth interior i wouldn't count on it.

I looked around a little and i found someone say something about there being a plug in the trunk that you have to take a jumper wire across while the key is on. when you do that the locks lock and then unlock and you have a 30 second program window. . . and i found a plug in my trunk.. I wounder.. lol

could be i had a 98 olds intrigue that had keyless entry but i never got a key fob when i bought it, you only get 2 from the factory and people lose and break them especially if ownership of the car changes a few times they tend to disappear so go on ebay and get a key fob for $20 and try it out before you spend $200 on an aftermarket setup

So I found the plug and it goes to a little black box. (the module I'm guessing). I turned the key on and jumped the plug but nothing happened. maybe Im doing something wrong? lol. its dark though so maybe I did'nt have a good connection. I just read that its the only plug in the trunk that will be unplugged. If you dont have a unplugged connector, then you dont have Remote Unlocks.
