Your car will not run without the iac.
The benefit of running without the egr is that you only get fresah air into the motor. The egr recirculates exhaust gasses back into the air intake. You will not need a retune but your CEL will be on. There is also more to it than just removing the egr itself. There are vacuum lines to it that need to be capped and the actual egr tube that runs from your exhaust manifold needs to be removed and the manifold capped as well.

isnt removing a egr only good for looks and a every so slightly cleaner intake? but i say it doesnt out weight the gas mileage loss, cel and the capping of the headers and removal of the vaccum line time..imo

Yeah, the exhaust gasses introduced to the intake actually help the car warm up to operating temps faster. If you really want a cleaner air intake then going with a breather or catch can would be much more beneficial.

in the past i added a delete to the iac and just left the iac pluged in but not mounted to the plenum and i had no problem with it running....the idle dropped alot faster whenever i put into neutral, but it was too fast of a drop....cant you leave it hooked up and make a plate with a smaller hole in it to put in between the iac and the plenum to make the idle drop a lil faster?

iac
Yes, you can make a restricter plate and lower your idle faster. you can also make a hose restricter out of a copper or brass plumbing cap, with the right size hole drilled.
Even heard of a guy that used a 3/8 socket in the hose. I like the cap ideal the most, Just start with a small hole, and work your way up, until you get it the way you like it. Seems the auto's hang longer than manual"s, which one you got? |

The plate or gasket iac restrictor mod 15/64.''
The 1/2'' copper cap iac restrictor mod 3/16'' to 7/32'' You will have to experiment alittle to see what you car likes on cold start-up. And yes, a socket in the hose before the iac. lol |

Or...you could do it the right way by changing the dashpot values in the tune.
