buiding a cobra

I have in my possesion a 96 aluminum cobra short block. My goal is to put it in a mustang, turn it into a 347, and turbo it. Im wanting to get about 8.5 compression or lower. but the main thing for me is doing all the fule injected and computer stuff as I have only made carbourated motors. So i need a list of stuff to buy to get the motor fule injected (I would prefere cobra parts) and to bore it to a 347 with low enough compression to run decent boost. I dont know if this will be relavant but it will be in a 69 mustang will a 5 speed. All the info, help, and tips will be much epriciated as I dont want to go the carborated route.

#1. If you were to go the "Big Bore" route (which involves resleeving the block with 3.700" sleeves) and run a 3.800" stroke crank, you would end up with 327 CID. I'm not sure where you're getting the idea that you'll be able to bore/stroke it to 347 CID.

#2. I would recommend AT LEAST 9:1 compression, preferably closer to 9.5:1-10:1 with a turbocharger. A 8.5:1 CR is unnecessarily low, and will result in a real pooch when out of boost.

#3. As far as a "list of stuff to buy to get the motor fuel injected" goes, it sounds like you need to start with getting the heads, cams, valvecovers, upper/lower intake, fuel rail, fuel injectors, wiring harness, throttle body, IAC, etc.

block isnt the weak link its the rods and pistons...and automatically assumed? thats like me buying a chevy and saying everythings a 5.7L? i think you need to evalute what you want as a final goal and how much money you have to spend cuz a turbo setup on a mod motor is far from cheap or if cheap isnt going to end up cheap...most people run single 61's, 67's and 70's on the street...and you wont need a different computer just need the factory one tuned

Unlike the 5.0 blocks, with mod motors the first thing to go is the conrods. Conrods will usually start punching windows in your block somewhere between 400-500rwhp.

The good news is that if you have a 96 Cobra shortblock you have a good starting point. It's a lightweight Teksid block that can take upwards of 800hp. If you're not looking to break 500hp you don't need to touch it. If you do want more, get new conrods/pistons, keep the CR in the 9.1-9.5 range. You already have a forged crank.

For the rest of the engine you can scoop up as many 96-98 Cobra engine parts as you can to finish it out.
