Advise for people looking to start modding - 4.10 gears

A little history first:
I bought my 98 Mustang GT in 2005, ever since, I have continually upgraded and modded the car. In 6 years I've put it in, in aftermarket parts, more than the car was originally worth. I've put money for interior and exterior mods but mainly for performance such as: Underdrive pulleys, Cold Air Intake, 75mm throttle body and plenum, PI intake swap, port and polish, Ford Racing clutch, Steeda Short Throw Shifter, Royal purple oil everywhere and always, Long tube headers, no cats, x pipe, flowmaster catback, really good street summer tires, among other things.

Present time:
Just this weekend I decided to install a set of 4.10 gears with complete differential rebuilt kit (after 150,000 miles it kinda needed it lol).

It is hands down the BEST mod I've done (only very closely followed by the PI Intake swap). It brought the Mustang back to life, something I have never felt before. There is no lag for acceleration, it responds on a 1:1 ratio with your foot on the pedal.

It made me wish I did this mod back in 2005.
So for the new guys looking to see what mod to go with first, or for the old guys thinking about 4.10s. DO IT NOW! You will not regret it.

I also have the SCT tuner coming up here in the following months and I feel that's also going to be a really good surprise.

Anyway, just my opinion. But I know my car inside out. I know how it performs, how it sounds, how it handles, and this mod changed all those aspects completely and only for the good.

Yeah my speedometer is not digital so I do still have to buy the speedo gear to fix the speed difference. I was on the highway on sunday and doing 75mph it said I was going 100mph lol. The good thing is that I use the Torque app in my Android phone and that lets me know exactly what is going on.

just watch out on a high mileage car that doesnt spin posi anymore, the added stress of new clutches and fluids can actually help detroy that dif more than it already is...buddy just went to have his dif rebuilt cuz it would only spin one tire and put 4.10's in his 02 with 135k...guy told him his spider gears were badly warn and said he shouldnt...he didnt it anyways...2 weeks later spider gears imploded and detroyed the dif and shatter the ring gear on his new 4.10's...not so much an issue with lower mile cars or clean difs, just something to watch out for..can very easily be avoided

dollar for dollar one of my favorite mods for a "seat of the pants" feel. loved my 4.10s in my 96. they were just horrible for traction after the supercharger

I have a 5 speed. RPM's at 75MPH are about 2900, also important to mention that I have 18" wheels with 275/40 tires in the rear

Actually is more like 2700....
Most of my trip on the highway was at 80mph and that is actually 2900

You can use this to calculate, it is very accurate. Gear Ratio Calc
