What about piston speed and compression height?
A 4v head does not have the same valve shrouding that the 2V modular heads have...

The bore difference on a 2v ported PI head is a big difference. Yes there is quite a cost difference in stroking and big bore setups, because a big bore requires an aftermarket block or sleeving the stocker.

Depending on the application of the car both have there place, but to flat out say a stroker will make more power than a big bore is an untrue statement.

Matt very interesting info. I beleive the bigger bore helps the 2V alot more then the 4V too.

No PI ... I just linked both of them vids on a thread I have on NYM.com.

na svt ... I also expected more from the bullit with 11.3/1 CR, stage 4 cams, TF heads, electric water pump and aluminum ds. They never say what intake they're using or what RPM they spun the motor to.

The 373HP from stage 3 heads and cams with a typhoon intake is promising tho.

380 RWHP 2 valve is MORE than possible. I have personally witnessed a Vortech SC'ed 2 valve 4.6 push 660 RWHP (700 crank) and run a 10.9 in the 1/4 @ 130 with FULL street trim in a Thunderbird.

Just curious, why does it have to be N/A? Are you going to go to boost later on or gonna spray it?

No offense, I just don't get the "All Muscle 2v 4.6". It's just not a good engine to do all-muscle with. I don't mean that to sound mean or derogatory, I just don't get it.

Put it to you this way. If I spent all that money on a built bottom end, I'd want to give it what it will handle. If you put boost in that 5.3l, it would be a monster.

Either way, good luck with your build I hope you reach your hp goals!!

mwilly .... my origional plan was just a forged stroker shortblock with KB, Vortec or Procharger. I could hit 550+ with that setup. The problem is I couldn't budget in all the other nessisities. ei: built tranny, rearend, and fuel to name a few.

I figured that for the cost of going FI i could just upgrade the 5.0 stroker to a 5.3 BB stroker and put down what stock FI 4.6's are making. But instead of being near the max output for a stock block, I'd just be scratching the surface of the 5.3 and have a brand new motor.

Yes I'd still like to go FI in the future. That's why I'm trying to stay under 10/1 CR. If not I still have the option of running a blower w/ E85 & meth, or spraying a BIG wetshot with a two step switch.

Also, can you imagine beating a stock 03/04 cobra in a N/A '96 slo-mo-bile.

PRICELESS
