Car Bucking After 2000 rpm And Up

fuel issues im guessing? i hear a ticking noise coming from the fuel rails

i normally put 91 or 93 into the car but my dad filled it up using 87, not sure if this matters

if its backfires it could also be a misfire issue whens the last time you had a tune up. In these cars they can backfire and hold on you if a coil pack is not working properly. Does it feel like a carburated car when its loading up with fuel thats what mine did and i have a 98 automatic but mine was a o2 sensor problem, in second gear at 2000 rpm it had bad power surges. I fixed the mil eliminators and hadn't had a problem since. I run 93 octane with 2 bottles of octane booster the ford dealer recommended it to me because of the ethenol in the fuel 87 is no good for these older v8s they aren't designed to run on it.

my friend is ase certified at ford and he said its almost a must to run 89 or higher in these older cars and some kind of additive once every other fill up. I did in all my cars and they run like rapped apes lol try running some star tron fuel additive and a bottle of 104 octane booster that's what i do to mine at least once a month. IT WILL NOT HURT THE MOTORS.

what I was told to do by my mech is add some Lucas oil additive. It is about the consistency of molasses. I put about a cup and a half in to my sixxer currently with every oil change. almost eliminates the knock that I got. might wanna try it, a bottle is only like 15 bucks and i think there is something like .5L in a bottle

i normally run 89, 91, or 93 and do use those fuel additives to clean my injectors and stuff every once in a while

totally normal...my injects sound the same exact wayy..i can add shit to the gas and it helps thema bit but there nothing wrong with them..mine came new in the box ( got from a buddy)..BUT if you iffy about your 4.6 injectors can be found in any junkyard..just hunt for a lowermileage engine, get them and soak them in alchohol overnight befor you install them..ive used junkyard injects abunch of times..

You might want to read up on Lucas Oil Stabilizer over at BITOG before dumping that stuff in your engine.

OP, is the car an auto or manual? Are you getting a CEL? Is the bucking only occurring under part throttle, WOT, in any certain gear, or at any throttle position above 2K in all gears?

manual, cel? id like to say its 2-4 gears and any throttle position, when i get on the gas it picks up fine but at some point it just starts bucking, never when im just cruising around

Here's an archive of the test from BITOG way back in the day: What about Additives?

If you just run a search on the forums over there, you'll see that LOS isn't held in high regard.

Manual = manual transmission
CEL = check engine light

So, if you're just cruising at part throttle, it doesn't buck, but if you're accelerating at moderate-heavy throttle it bucks above 2K?

no CEL

and yes, second gear and after

If your car is tuned for the higher octane fuel then it will run like a turd without it. If your car is not tuned for the higher octane fuel then you are just wasting your money using it. An easy way to tell if the problem is from the lower grade fuel is to add an octane booster and see if it levels out.

update

i drove it the other night when it was freezing and it was scary to drive. i was about to turn around and take it home. i found that if i barely get on the throttle that the bucking wouldnt happen no matter what gear. i checked the IAT sensor and made sure that was straight then took it for a drive today. it didnt change much but when i got home a check engine light came on. i got one before and it was bad o2 sensors so anyone think that could be the problem? i really feel like its a fuel issue

cliffs

easy on the throttle seems to eliminate the bucking
check iat sensor - nothing changed
engine light came on, last time was for bad o2 sensors

the codes said it was a misfire in one of the cylinders. the fixes are to check basically all the electrical part involved with the firing

how should i go about this? replace 1 part at a time and see what happens?
