head lights keep cutting in and out...
not sure if this is the right place for this but. i don't know what to do, i bought replacement bulbs and the head lights keep cutting in and out... even on high beems the seem to flicker and it doesn't stop. i checked the wiring imidiately around both bulb housings, and nothing out of the ordinary. i don't get it. also, my light knob broke, and its hard to pull out the light shift. could that be affecting it? thank you for any input.

if you really yanked on your on off switch you could have botched it... I would suggest borrowing another 9007 bulb from another mustang or any other car that has one and see if that would be the problem as well. Because if the bulbs are faulty they could either be drawing to much, too little, not have a really good connection to your plugs, or are just crap bulbs in general. If its your light switch housing thats not a terrible fix either, just go ta junk yard and pick one up for 10 bucks (i have an extra just in case).... swap it out and call it a day.

pull the switch all the way out as if your to use headlights. Then hit the high beam switch so they are on at all times. If the high beams dont work/stay on, it could be the multi function switch in the column. If they do work its the headlight switch in the dash. The switch new from a parts store is about $22. The rod comes out of the old switch, yiu reuse that and the knob.
On the bottom of the headlight switch (when you take it out of the dash via 2 8mm bolts) is a button. Pull the rod all the way out, push in the little metal button with the spring under it and pull on the rod more. It will slide right out. Mine were doing the same thing and it was the switch. But I figured id post all that I knew about it so you can try troubleshooting. |
