First Runs at the Strip

Well like said I took my car to the strip. My loses ET was 14.99. Not too bad I guess. I had a reaction time of .14 . It was fun but I only ran six times (didnt want to press my luck). My car is mostly stock, I have msd wires, bosch +2 sparklers, tunable induction coldair kit, and flowmaster mufflers. So all in all I was happy. OHHHH and the best part. Maybe he just cant drive but I took down a 5.0 with a slower run. FUN.

OK, sorry been out a while.

I believe my 60ft is 2.208. But the times listed are:

2.208

6.229

9.627

and ET is 14.994.

I have a manual. This is the first time that I have ran my car, so, I did not pay so much attention to launch rpm etc. I drive my car a lot so I went with feel. I did however do my best to shift before 5000. I would guess my launch rpm was somewhere around 3500. Maybe less. I'm not sure about altitude but im sure its close to sea level. just guessing.

so are you saying dont let it go to high in rpms??i have an automatic and all im going to do is floor it..should i wait til light turns green and then just floor it or should i hold down the brake and get it up to 1000 rpms before i start spinning the tires??im going to be running a 100 shot of nitrous and i have a digital window switch to....

Well I cant honestly say for sure. I know you should launch just like you take off normally and adjust with the higher rpms. Your goal is to get the most traction and go lol. I tried dumping mine once and i just sat and spun. I dont know how the auto reacts. If you hold the break and give it too much you will spin then too lol. So maybe hold the break and rev it up right before you jump the light?? Just dont rev it so high you start spinning. Also you may be able to let it go a lot higher if your using drag radials. I was on bf goodrich g- force's. Youll have to play with it. If you dont get a good launch though Id say that nitrous is a waste of time lol. So get a good launch. GL

you need to leave allot harder. buy you some cheap bullit wheels and slap some drag radials on it. once you do that i would imagine if you heated them good you could leave at 4500 and still get some traction. you clutch is going to be the thing that goes next once you start leaving hard. i think that my car had a king cobra in it and it lasted about 13 passes with me leaving at 5500-6k.

as for the automatic i would stall it up to it is just about to spin the tires then when the tree hits mash it. you are also going to have the same problem you will need something to help you stick. nittos will hook decent for your cars and they are reasonably priced.

just my .02

Yeah thats what I was thinking lol. I see what your saying but even with drag radials wow. That usually the rpm i pop it to smoke the tires for heating. But like i said first runs

What type of tires you running? Cuz if they are street tires just spin them around once or so and do actually heat them up. and well you are not going to get traction with a 4000+ launch on street tires. I would try and launch at around 2700 and let it spin just a hare.

+1 I launch at 4Krpms and with drag radials I imagine launching at 5krpms no prob. Well, my clutch might become a prob. :wink

Bbrewer03, sounds like you had fun. Welcome to the addiction that is going to the track. Nothin better. And it's always fun to be the faster car, even if it's not all that fast, lol.

i launch at 6400 off a two step on nitto drag radials. just takes a lot of heat, and about 12 psi in the rears. it launches hard and the best ive cuit on them is a 1.61
