cutouts?


sorry guys. might be kind of a stupid question but what exactly do exhaust cutouts do and what is the advantage to having them?

go on before the mufflers and allows you to run open exhaust at the track

wouldnt u lose horsepower from the lack of back pressure if u ran open exhaust?

Under most circumstances yes, have a tune for a open header could net a few horsepower but tend to decrease torque. On a NA engine the higher pressure differential in the exhaust will tend to draw the intake charge making more power, its physics... Schools out !!!!!

Very nicely worded Boomer. (Saying this while making a smug face and givinga golf clap..haha) Is this also called having an "open loop" tune?? Just curious.

You would not need a tune for "open loop", you would just want to adjust timing and MAF tables for optimum performance with open headers. Although for strictly track use you could tune it any way you want.
