Don't waste your time with that. I'd never buy a used tuner either. Buy an sct tuner off of American Muscle and Bama will create custom tunes for you for life.

OK... $369... or do I go with the chip option from AM for $269 and a button-on-th-fly change option?

Is there a better option?

Depends on your experience and how much effort you want to put into this. The hand held is a lot more user friendly with a very simple install. The chip requires you to remove the ecu and do a little bit of soldering. Totally up to you though.

IMO i'd buy the hand held just because soldering the ecu isnt exactly what id want to do.

I have the hand held and its pretty handy especially with newer mods. Sometimes if I do a mod, I will get a check engine light and the hand held will tell me what it is.

If you know what you want in your tune and aren't planning on adjusting it for a long time then a chip is a great option. If you are looking at the tune being the first of many then a handheld is going to be much more cost effective in the long run. The problem with buying a used tuner is that it is usually vin locked to the original vehicle unless that vehicle was returned to a completely stock tune by the previous owner before he / she decided to sell it. Even if it was your still going to have to find a good tuner to work with and that will cost you as much in the long run as ordering one from AM with the free Bama Tuning for life option.

Yes... its had 2 different owners who did different mods without tunes. The speedo is off by 9-11 mph.

They did a CAI and 3.55 gears.. underdrive pulleys and BBK clutch...

soo.... better safe then sorry.. plus.. I plan on a PI swap and NOS in the future.. soooo.

If you have 96-98 then the hand held will not help your speedo.

If you are just trying to adjust the speedometer, why not just get a new speedometer gear?

1983-95 Mustang 23 Tooth Speedometer Gear & Clip Kit, Manual Trans at LRS - Same Day Shipping!

That should be it there, as long as its a standard 5 speed. Ignore the year, i pulled the EXACT same one out of my car except it was red and a 21 tooth.
