new to mustangs.

Okay so i have a 96 gt that i got that wasnt running. the fuel pump was bad and i replaced it with a walbro 255. it has a few things wrong with it that im not sure what it could be so if you could help me it'd be greatly appreciated!!

1. when i press the brakes, the pedal like goes to the floor before it actually stops the car.. like i have to press it quite far.

2. i have to push the clutch 100% all the way in before i shift or it will grind. is this normal??

3. when i drive it hard and let off, i hear a clunking in the front. I'm guessing the engine is hitting something?? possible motor mounts? i was looking at solids but cant find a trans mount.. i think i read somewhere if you do motor mounts u need to do trans mounts?

4. ebrake doesnt work at all cables are gone u think)

5. odometer doesn't work.

Flush (not just bleed) the brake system. Should be done annually and I doubt it was ever done at all.

Not normal, but these cars use a clutch cable which stretches over time, so it's not unexpected. I recommend replacing the whole setup with an aluminum clutch quadrant and firewall adjuster, but you can just replace the cable and reset the auto-adjusting plastic quadrant.

As a preventative, it'd probably be a good idea to replace the tranny fluid, GM Synchromesh is the best fluid for T45s.

Motor mounts would be my first guess, though I don't recommend solid mounts on a street car. I'd do the trans mount at the same time, but it's certainly not required. If you're not finding the trans mount, you're not looking very hard, at the very least you should be able to find one at either Late Model Resto or Rock Auto.

Possibly. Could also just be way out of adjustment, or your rear brake pads might be shot.

Just the odometer, or does the speedo not work also? If it's both it's the speedo cable or the gear at the end of the cable; if it's just the odometer, there's a separate odometer gear in the cluster that is replaceable, I *think* you can get the part from LMR, I know I've seen at least one thread about it so a search should be fruitful.

Air in the brake system.
2. i have to push the clutch 100% all the way in before i shift or it will grind. is this normal??
Are you slamming gears or taking a bit of time?
3. when i drive it hard and let off, i hear a clunking in the front. I'm guessing the engine is hitting something?? possible motor mounts? i was looking at solids but cant find a trans mount.. i think i read somewhere if you do motor mounts u need to do trans mounts?
Trans mount it a DEALER only part, its only rubber, no urethane or solid.
4. ebrake doesnt work at all cables are gone u think)
Is it a 5 speed? They did have a recal on these cars for them. Check your cables for rust or corrosion or breakage.
5. odometer doesn't work.
Beveled gears behind the tach. They are plastic and wear out over time.
1994-98 Mustang Odometer Gear Repair Kit by Odometer Gears at LRS - Same Day Shipping!
That should fix it.
I'm red.

1996 GT - why would you ask if it was a 5 speed after answering a question about the clutch 3 lines prior? Hahahaha.

I just put one of those in my car. Its very nice for the price. No slack or anything but before you go buying a new one take yours apart and make sure every things tight, and if it isnt, make sure you use red lock tight.

Should be part of the Steeda warranty/guarantee. You would ship it back to them.

Of course, you'll need to have another shifter while yours is being rebuilt or you won't be able to drive the car.

It only applies to the original purchaser but I'm the one that accepts or rejects all the Steeda Manufactured parts so I'll let this one slide

Send it back to the following.

Steeda (att: Scott Boda)
2019 Steeda Way
Valdosta, GA 31601
RGA#MODMUSTFRM

I'll fix it and get it shipped back out to you in 1 day.
