question about removing stock exhaust

so im getting ready to pull the motor on my 97 gt and ive been reading alot of forums and trying to see whats gonna be the easiest way. one thing ive been hearing alot about is getting one of the starter bolts out and unbolting the exhaust on the passenger side where the pipe meets the manifold. sorry if this has already been asked but i couldnt find it if its there but whats the best way to go about getting the exhaust off and any insight on getting the motor easier would be much appreciated.

I Have become quite familiar with this process.

3/8 inch rachet, 12 inch extension & a 3/4 socket(DEEP)
If its the first time your doing this you may need some penetrating fluid and a breaker bar.

You may also need a 3/8 U joint to get the passenger side ones.

Yes ^ Lots of PB Blaster!!! The hardest nut to get is the bottom one on the right side manifold, the starter is defending it. Youll need the tools above^ to get it.

It will require a lot of torque and cursing to get these stubborn nuts off if they have never been removed before.

Top bolt on the starter was a real pain to get out. I just used about 3 extensions and a u joint and came at it from the front of the car. After that i never even put that bolt back in, just the bottom two.
