AC not working
I know its winter and its not needed but i want to get it done before the cali heat ges here. Anyways, the car is 98 GT and the problem is the ac clutch dont but I know it works because I have wired it directly. I have tried jumping the cycling and assuming I did that correctly I still didnt get clutch engagment. I would like any ideas about troubleshooting what is wrong. Thanks for any help given.

Check the refrigerant pressure. If the pressure is low it will not come on.

I thought that with jumping the cycling switch the system should cycle even it is low on refrigerant

Had the same problem. I troubleshot it down to the (just forgot the name of it), but the relay box inside the passenger side wheel well. Wound up just bypassing it and running the wires from the pressure switches straight to the compressor. All the relay does is cut power to it when you go WOT. Been a couple of years and no problems.

Do you know what wires you jumped so I can try that? Btw do you if by passing that relay also bypasses the safety features built into the system?

What safety features are you referring to? Been a while since I looked at the schematic, but it only went through a WOT controlled relay. I suppose it's possible to overpressure the system if you go WOT with the A/C turned on, but it also goes through two pressure switches, a low and high, so the high pressure switch should kill it (if it's in working condition). As far as the wires, I don't remember exactly. The power goes through the control panel, then to the two switches, to the CCRM, then to the compressor. Cant remember which switch is the second one in line, but I cut the wire coming out of it, (going to the CCRM) and soldered in a piece of wire between there and the compressor power input wire. No need to mess with the ground wire, (assuming it's good), it goes from the compresser to wherever it's grounded at. When/if I ever fix/ or replace the CCRM it's just a matter of reconnecting the original wires.
