Question

Turbo effects on MPG while in boost range

Alright. So I know a lot about turbo's, and their effects; but I can't seem to find any info on the question stated in the title ^^.
I'm new to the forums, so What's up everyone.
If any of my stang brothers out there have turbo's, and want to chime in on the effects "while in boost range", it would be much appreciated.
I just want to know

- how much less efficient it is compared to what you would normally get while out of your boost range.

Because when I get everything hooked up, my turbo will be spooling around 2500-2800 RPM's.

Thanks guys.

Unless your really into the throttle your car isnt going to be spooling up the turbo. So your gas mile stays about the same.

Generally more boost means you're pushing more air, and to keep the mixture stoich, you need more fuel, thus worse gas milage.

However under light load, the drive pressure is low, so you won't be pushing much boost. As long as you stay well below the torque curve you won't see much boost or worsened fuel economy.

That and when cruising it isn't hard to stay under 2500 RPM at all. Low RPM and low load and you'll keep your MPG's down.

That doesn't mean you'll be driving around under boost at 2500+ rpm. You can cruise along at 4K rpm at low throttle and remain under vacuum. That spool range is applicable at WOT.

Correct. If your not WOT all the time you should really notice a huge difference.
